Scarlett is featured in the latest issue (December 2008) of Allure Magazine. Here are some great interview snippets:
On not knowing why Lindsay Lohan doesn’t like her: “I really don’t know that person. I only met her, like, three times.” (Scarlett did lose the lead role in The Parent Trap to Lindsay when she was 13.)
On Lindsay scrawling vulgar words about the actress on a NYC bathroom stall 2½ years ago: “That’s what I heard. I don’t know what the motivation was behind that. I remember it was something really vulgar — I mean, shockingly so, like, ‘Whoa, what, who are you?’”
On Woody Allen once calling her his muse: “I don’t inspire that work that Woody does. I’m just lucky to fit into the ‘young woman’ category in his movies. But make no mistake, I know that if it wasn’t me, it would be someone else.”
On how she met husband Ryan Reynolds: “Nobody knows. It’s private. It’s our story.”
On the tattoo on her forearm: “It’s kind of personal. It’s a sunrise, and it makes me happy when I look at it.”

Newlyweds Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are planning a top secret second wedding in the U.S., according to reports. The couple shocked Hollywood by marrying in a wilderness resort in Vancouver, Canada in September. Many friends and family members couldn’t attend - so they are staging another ceremony in the coming months for 150 guests. A source tells OK! magazine, “Scarlett wants something simple and classic. They’ve agreed on 150 guests.”
Scarlett Johansson will return to the big screen next month, and this time she’ll be sexier than ever. The Lost In Translation actress will play the baddie’s sidekick Silken Floss in the film adaptation of comic book The Spirit - a role which director Frank Miller included in the film just for Scarlett. “Well, she’s a doctor or a nurse, really, but yes, she’s very sexy. Frank really allowed that to develop. Very forward and sexy in a 1940s way,” Scarlett told Total Film magazine. She added that the dialogue, comprising of witty one-liners, made her character even sexier. “That was so much fun. I mean the dialogue was great. Only Frank could write this stuff… Forget about obscene - it’s worse than that because it’s so clever!” But Scarlett said her character wasn’t just a bad girl. “Like a lot of the characters, she’s kind of in a grey area. They’re not really good and they’re not really bad, you know? They’re products of their environment, I think,” she said.

Sorry for being soo secure, but I got contacted by an agency at one of my other sites and to be honest, it’s pretty scary. The full fansite business is just a hobby for me and I don’t want to get myself into trouble. I hope, you can understand my point of view!
On October 05, Scarlett attended “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson”’s benefit for the Michael J. Fox Foundation at the Sheraton New York Hotel in New York City.
After it was announced Barack Obama was elected president Johansson, said that the “overwhelming hope that Obama inspires is infectious.” “I’ve always maintained a strong faith in the power of Obama’s positive campaign and am so proud of every citizen who took a stand, participated in the political process and insisted their voices be heard,” Johansson said in a statement. Scarlett Johansson says her new husband Ryan Reynolds helped her find her way in life. The pair married in a secret ceremony in Vancouver, Canada on September 27. And Johansson, 23, says before meeting Reynolds she was floundering in her personal life. She explains, “I’m only human. I think everyone has times when they struggle with where to go now. “I’ve been fortunate enough always to know what I wanted to do, what I was passionate about. I never had to struggle with that. “But even then there are all kinds of questions you have about where I go from here and of course personal times when I felt that way. But not anymore.”
Newlywed says all the travelling makes monogamy difficult. Scarlett Johansson believes it’s almost impossible to hold down a relationship in Hollywood. The 23-year-old actress – who married Ryan Reynolds, 32, last month – says travelling so much for the job makes it difficult to stay faithful. “Relationships aren’t easy,” she says. “I believe in monogamy, but it’s hard when you travel and actors travel a lot.” “It is an effort, but I don’t want to be in a relationship that isn’t worth making that effort for.” Scarlett has just finished filming He’s Just Not That Into You with Jennifer Aniston.
Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz have all landed nominations for New York City’s prestigious Gotham Independent Film Awards. Hathaway’s movie Rachel Getting Married and Johansson and Cruz’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona are both up for the Best Ensemble Performance award. But the Hollywood beauties have been overshadowed among the nominees by filmmaker Lance Hammer, whose drama Ballast is up for four prizes at the ceremony on December 02, 2008. Ballast picked up nods in the Best Feature, Breakthrough Director, Breakthrough Actor and Best Ensemble Performance categories - just months after stealing the show at the Sundance Film Festival. Cruz will be a winner at the Manhattan awards ceremony whatever happens; as previously announced, she will be honoured with the Gotham Award - the same prize her boyfriend Javier Bardem collected last year. Sean Penn, Gus Van Sant and Melvin Van Peebles will also be honoured at the bash.
Actress Scarlett Johansson will co-host the 2008 Nobel Peace Concert on December 11 in honor of this year’s laureate, Finnish peace mediator and former President Martti Ahtisaari. The other co-host will be announced in coming weeks, said a statement given to The Associated Press ahead of its official release. Last year’s show was hosted by Uma Thurman and Kevin Spacey. “We’re extremely pleased Ms. Johansson will join us for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert,” said the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s non-voting secretary Geir Lundestad. “Her compassion and influence will help us tremendously in our mission of spreading the global message of peace.” Lundestad says the concert, televised in up to 100 countries, is the most popular event on the Nobel calendar. Johansson, 23, will host a program headlined by Diana Ross. It includes Canadian singer Leslie Feist, who performs under the name Feist, American country singer Dierks Bentley, Mexican singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas, and Nigerian star Seun Kuti, according to a list released last week. Johansson rose to stardom through her role in the 1998 film The Horse Whisperer and won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts best actress award for her role opposite Bill Murray in the 2003 film Lost in Translation. The Nobel concert is held a day after the December 10 Nobel peace awards ceremony. Ahtisaari won the prize for his peace efforts on several continents over several decades.
Scarlett Johansson has criticised the American media’s ’sexist’ treatment of senator Hillary Clinton during her bid for the White House. Mrs Clinton lost out on the Democratic party’s nomination for the presidency to Barack Obama but made history nonetheless in being the first woman to run for the highest office in the US. Speaking to Cosmo Girl magazine, Johansson - a staunch Obama supporter - has lambasted the media’s treatment of the former First Lady. “We still live in a country that’s sexist and racist. Those are issues that we deal with whether we want to ignore it or not,” said the Lost in Translation star. “Seeing how the media portrayed Hillary with unbelievable sexism - some of the things that people were saying were just so overwhelming. You just couldn’t believe the names that they were calling her!” However, Johansson expressed her hope of a change in American attitudes, having encountered a number of politicised college students while touring US campuses. “These kids are just so well-informed and so interested. There were really obscure questions and debates that they wanted to lead - I couldn’t believe it!” she remarked “And it was amazing how many of these kids turned out. I’m 23, and all of these kids are probably between 16 to 24. They’re my peers, so we can all talk on the same wavelength. We’re all connected by the same issues.”
